I worked with Yvon in the lumber camps in the early 50′s in the vicinity of CHatham, N.B. We were very close. I last saw Yvon about 6 or 7 years ago.
I think of him often. Sincere sympathy to the family. I know his big heart will be missed.
I wish to thank everyone that sent a kind word for my father for he never had a bad thing to say about anybody and I wish to thank all the people that attended the funeral. Dad loved everyone equal because to him we are all equal, my sincere gratitude to all of you that loved our dad as much as we loved him, you will never be forgotten dad , from your beau xoxoxo
Our boxing promotion group in Montreal, Quebec, Canada would like to say that we are extremely saddened by the passing away of Yvon Durelle. He was a great boxer, and a role model as he inspired a whole generation of athletes to practice the sport of boxing in Quebec and throughout Canada.
We just wanted to let his family know that our thoughts and prayers are with them. God bless his soul.
Respectfully,
Ian Edery for the entire InterBox Team.
To my old pal Theresa, we had some good times growing up in Escuminac, times that will never be forgotten. Yvonne definitely will never be forgotten. Take Care. Annie
Mes sincères condoléances à toute la famille. Yvon est un grand homme. I’ll never forget the loonie and toonie trick he had glued to his doorstep. Great sense of humor.

My dad trained with Mr. Durelle in the late fifties, then fought him in 1963 one of Mr. Durelle’s last fights. My dad always talked highly of Yvon Durelle. I wish I had got to meet him, rest in peace champ.

Yvon Durlle was my father’s uncle, which would make him my great uncle. Loved the guy to. Never really met the man, but heard he was incredable. Saw all his boxing matches and yep. He was great!
We are sad to hear about our « family » champ. We live in Mexico and we know that our family roots trace back to L’Acadie. I often cite the sport example of Yvon Durelle in his Moore match to our children.
Thanks for oportunity to share our toughts on Mr Durelle, un des les plus grand boxeurs au monde.
Merci beaucoup,
Ed Durell Jr.

Bonjour!
My sincere sympathies.
« Everyman dies but only great one lives on as legend »

My belated condolences to the Durelle family on the passing of Yvon back in 2007. I had the pleasure of meeting Yvon in Moncton at the Chis Rock tavern and got to spent a couple of hours with him. Every bit the sincere humble and caring man discribed here by his son.
Yvon had that gentle way about him that put everybody at ease although we knew we were in the presence of greatness.
Yvon may you rest in peace.
